2.0 Introduction

  1. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before placing an order. These terms and conditions relate solely to products made by The Table Guy that use Scaffold Boards. Terms & Conditions for third party products shall be listed on their relevant product pages.

  2. By accessing and/or using this website, you agree to be legally bound by these Conditions. Your agreement with us will be governed by these terms and conditions that will be emailed to you in a Pdf format after you have placed an order (always check spam / junk folders).

  3. Should you have any other queries relating to these conditions or using thetableguy.co.uk website, how to use this site, please contact us by;

- Phone: 01342 659900

3.0 Our Products

  1. Unless stated in the products description, our tables, benches and shelves are made from reclaimed scaffold boards and timber. We may also use timber for the frames made from FSC Certified Timber.

  2. The reclaimed scaffold board tabletops have been used on a construction site, so each scaffold board will naturally have a degree of history, such as the following but not limited to;

- Different widths & thicknesses.

- Possibly contain nail holes.

- Saw marks.
- Grainy fibre.

- Splits, that do not affect the function of the item, these can be present on arrival or may develop over time.

- The boards may be slightly curved or cupped.
- Vary in hue.
- Contain rust residue.

No two scaffold boards are ever the same.

 3.  The rustic tabletops and frames are hand sanded so there won’t be any rough edges, but the boards & frame will retain their unique         character as stated above, in some cases table mats may be required.

 4.  If you are looking for something perfectly consistent, we wouldn’t advise you to have reclaimed scaffolding

boards for your rustic tabletop. Please ask about our other non-reclaimed options.

 5.  Unless stated, our Rustic Tables and benches are made completely by hand and finished by hand.

 6.  As wood is a ‘live’ material, they will always be some movement of the wood. Therefore, our exterior tables & most interior tables             (unless stated) and benches will have a 5mm gap between the boards for expansion purposes during the different seasons. Boards           may rise slightly from the frame but this shouldn’t be more than 5mm.

 7.  In some cases, the frame & knots in the wood may develop small cracks, this is a normal movement of a live material and will not             affect the function of the item.

 8.  As our Rustic Tables are made with reclaimed wood, all sizes, capacities & measurements stated on our website are approximate.

 9.  The images of the products on our website are for illustrative purposes only, please read the description of the product carefully               before ordering.

10. The stains and colours shown, may appear differently on computer, tablets and phone screens, we cannot guarantee the complete accuracy of the pictures or photographs.

6.0 Tabletop Samples

  1. We always recommend requesting tabletop samples as online photos do not depict the colours accurately. If you chose not to receive samples, we cannot be held responsible if the finished stain isn’t as expected.

 2.  As the tabletops are reclaimed boards, no two boards are the same, each board will take the stain slightly differently. We do                   endeavour to get as close as match as possible on all our samples, but there may be a difference.

 3.  The samples are stained one side only, please ensure you look at the correct side.

 4.  Exterior stains can be used inside but interior stains cannot be used outside.

d) charge for any modifications that may be required (if possible), e) or in the worst-case scenario, for a new table.

 2.  If you request a non-standard fixed leg table, please note that they are very securely fixed together, so they do not dismantle, and the         tops cannot be removed. If access isn't possible because of this, a new table would be required to be made at additional cost.

 3.  Fixed leg Refectory tables come with a central stretcher, so if a table is required to be turned on its side to gain access, manoeuvring           around corners will be very limited.

 4.  If access isn't straight forward (requires turning on its side to get through gates, doorways, halls, alleys and so on) then we cannot             accept any responsibility for any damage caused to the table or property.

 5.  The vehicle we will be using is a White Renault and it is rather large (6.5 metres long, 2.45 metres wide and 3.2 metres high), so             please advise if there are any problems with vehicle access, possible obstacles, or parking restrictions.

This charge will be applied even if no original delivery cost was charged.

 2.  Unless previously agreed by email prior to delivery, our driver or courier is unable to wait for someone to accept the goods, help with         unloading or preparing access to your property.

 3.  The repeat delivery charge will also apply if you cancel an agreed delivery date and time slot less than 48 hours prior to the agreed           date.

 4.  If your goods are required to be stored at our warehouse, you will incur storage charge of £45 per week. If no effort is made to accept       delivery of your goods within 4 weeks, then we reserve the right to cancel your order and retain up to 75% of the order value.

8.0 Lead times.

 2.  We cannot be held responsible for any delays whatsoever and in most cases will not abandon delivery once the delivery has                     commenced, so a delivery may be before or after normal working hours.

 3.  We always calculate working days, so the lead times exclude Saturday, Sundays, Bank holidays & our Christmas break.

 4.  Please note that the lead-times for metal tables will be approximately 3-4 weeks longer than normal.

  1. If transit damage was not noted at the point of delivery, then you will have to report any transit damage to The Table Guy within 48 hours of receiving the delivery.

  1. Claims for transit damage will not be accepted outside of this period. Art. 11 pt III.

  1. In the unlikely event that your goods have minor scratches or scuffs, we will send out a pot of paint and / or wax as similar as possible, if not identical, to the paint / stain used on the goods, to enable you to cover the scratches or scuffs.

  1. If there is a fault with the goods due to our omission or error, we may need to send an employee to remedy the problem or have the table collected.

Please note that faults on products made from scaffold boards / reclaimed wood do not include any of the unique characteristics of the tabletop or frames stated in Art. 3.

12.0 Care of Scaffold Board Tables.

 1.  Interior Tables

The tabletop finish is hardy and does not need much care, however we do recommend a suitable furniture wax (not spray) from time to time.

All timber is subject to shrinkage or expansion, the extent of which depends on the exact environment where it is placed, movement mainly occurs within the first few weeks while the item adjusts to the new temperature it is located in. This is all totally normal behaviour for wood.

If your table is delivered during the winter months, we strongly advise not to place the table near a heat source or in a hot room for a few weeks so that the table can slowly settle to its new environment.

The table and / or benches will come with adjustable feet, please site the table as even as possible, to avoid possible warping.

Although UV protected, wood will mature or fade in colour quicker in direct sunlight – try to avoid this in prolonged

periods when the table is not in use i.e holidays.

Always take care when moving furniture – the table should be carried evenly, never dragged or pushed.

Do not put hot items directly on to the table – always use mats where appropriate.

Any spills should be mopped up promptly.

Avoid the use of strong detergents on wood.

Should minor splits occur on the frames, we do offer an easy-to-use plastic filler & touch paint to keep the

appearance of your table tip top, or you may wish to leave it alone to add to its rustic charm.

II. Exterior Tables

The OSMO all-in-one tabletop stain - protector is a hardy natural oil and does not need much care, however we do recommend an additional coat at least once a year to keep the protection topped up (please read manufactures guideline of your stain or contact us for advice).

We highly recommend that you cover your table for those inclement days / weeks. It is important to allow the

table to breath under your cover otherwise mould may occur. We would recommend a soft object or two, like a

football.

Your scaffold top is a live wood so will be subject to shrinkage or expansion, the extent of which depends on the exact environment where it is placed. Movement mainly occurs within the first few weeks while the item adjusts to the elements. This is all totally normal behaviour for wood.

If you leave your table uncovered during the winter, then more movement and expansion can be expected along with colour degradation.

Although UV protected, wood will mature or fade in colour quicker in direct sunlight, in addition the UK weather

isn’t always what we would like it to be, so always try to cover your table when not in use.

The table (& bench) legs are fixed with either rubber or adjustable feet, we recommend keeping these on to avoid

contact with any wet surface.

We do not recommend standing the table on grass or gravel as this will bridge the barrier between the legs and a

wet ground, better to use a small plinth under each leg if this was the case.

Uneven surfaces will cause the boards to warp.

Should minor splits occur on the frames, we do offer an easy-to-use plastic filler & touch paint to keep the

appearance of your table tip top, or you may wish to leave it alone to add to its rustic charm.

Do not put hot items directly on to the table – always use mats where appropriate.

Any spills should be mopped up promptly.

Avoid the use of strong detergents on wood.

Always take care when moving furniture – the table should be carried evenly, never dragged or pushed. The table is extremely heavy, so we do not recommend moving it alone.
